According to the National Institutes of Health, ulcerative colitis (UC) is a type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It is thought that UC is the result of a combination of genetic and environmental factors that influence the immune system.
Living with ulcerative colitis can be very difficult. The symptoms of this disease may be uncomfortable, painful, and may interfere with daily activities.
To help with the symptoms of UC, doctors have a few options when prescribing treatments. However, for some people, treatments do not work well or at all. For others, treatments stop working. And for still others, side effects of the treatments cannot be tolerated. For all these reasons, it is important that doctors and scientists continue the research for potential treatments of ulcerative colitis.
This is a clinical research study of an investigational drug for ulcerative colitis. Clinical research is required before drugs are approved for use, and this research would not be possible without volunteer study participants.
Minimum requirements to participate: |
|
* Be ages 18 to 79 |
|
* Have active symptoms of ulcerative colitis |
|
* Have had an inadequate or loss of response to a prescribed treatment or were unable to tolerate it |
This is not a complete list of requirements for participation. If you provide us with your contact information, we will promptly reach out to provide you with more information about our research study.
Reasonable reimbursement for parking and travel may be available to study participants. Details on reimbursement will be discussed by the staff at the research center.
If you are interested in participating or just wish to learn more, please provide your contact information. Our goal is to contact all people who submit a contact form within two business days after submission.
Doctors and scientists are constantly developing new drugs and devices that may help prevent, detect, diagnose, control, and treat illnesses. A clinical research study or clinical trial is a scientific study that tests these new investigational drugs. Research studies depend upon the participation of volunteers.
There is no guarantee that participants will receive any benefit from participating in this study. However, this research study may yield new information that could benefit people in the future by helping to answer questions about the effectiveness and safety of the investigational drug.
Participation in a research study is completely voluntary. In all clinical research studies, qualified potential participants are first informed about the study in detail. After receiving this information, all participants must give their consent in writing to proceed. Some studies involve more tests and doctor visits than the participant would normally have for an illness or condition.
The study required procedures and investigational drug will be provided at no cost to qualified participants.
Before participating in a research study, volunteers must meet specific requirements. These requirements are based on various factors, such as age, medical history, current health status, current medications, and allergies. The circumstances that allow a person to participate are called Inclusion Criteria and those that prevent participation are called Exclusion Criteria. These requirements are used to ensure the accuracy of the study as well as the safety of all participants. We will not know whether you satisfy all study requirements until we speak with you and, if appropriate, complete a screening assessment at our facilities.
ObjectiveHealth research network partners with physicians to give them the tools needed to integrate clinical trials into their practice. As a result, patients gain access to trials within their community.
