LMC Manna Research is seeking people to participate in a research study for people being
treated for high cholesterol and who also have either diabetes or vascular disease (coronary
artery disease, cerebrovascular disease, or peripheral artery disease).
A combination of diseases such as these creates a high risk of future adverse cardiovascular
events, such as a heart attack or stroke. However, people who have had a prior heart attack or
stroke cannot participate in this study.
Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death and disability worldwide, with over 17
million people having had heart attacks or strokes in 2016 alone.
This is why it is so important that research studies like this be conducted. The ultimate goal is to
find new treatment options for people with high cardiovascular risk.
To participate in this study, men must be age 50 or older, and women must be age 55 or older.
All participants must be under age 80 when entering the study.
Participants must: |

* Be receiving treatment for high cholesterol, and |

While participation in a clinical trial, also called a research study, is voluntary, qualified volunteers participating in this study will be compensated for travel expenses. Compensation will be discussed by the staff at the research clinic.
Please provide us with your contact information. We will contact you within two business days.
Doctors and scientists are constantly finding new drugs that may help prevent, detect, diagnose, control, and treat illnesses. A clinical trial or research study is a scientific study that tests these new discoveries. Clinical research studies depend upon the participation of volunteers.
This research study may yield new information that could benefit others in the future by helping to answer questions about the effectiveness and safety of the study drug. There is no guarantee that subjects will receive any direct benefit from being in the study.
In all clinical research studies, potential participants are first told about the research study in detail. After receiving this information, all participants must give their consent in writing to proceed. Some clinical research studies involve more tests and doctor visits than the participant would normally have for an illness or condition.
Health Insurance is NOT required to participate.
There are no charges for you to participate in this clinical research study. You will not be
charged for the study drug, study-related procedures and tests, or study visits.
Before joining a clinical research study, volunteers must meet specific requirements. These requirements are based on various factors. These can include your age, medical history, current health status, current medications, and drug allergies. The list of things that must be satisfied before a person can participate in a clinical research study are called Inclusion Criteria. The list of things that will stop a person from participating in a clinical research study are called Exclusion Criteria. The Inclusion and Exclusion Criteria were developed to help make the results of the study accurate. They were also developed for the safety of all participants. We will not know whether you satisfy all study requirements until we speak with you and, if needed, complete a screening assessment at our facilities.
LMC Manna Research is the largest network of fully-owned and integrated clinical research sites in Canada providing Phase I-IV clinical trial services. We have over 40 years of combined experience conducting clinical research studies to thoroughly test new medications or medical devices for safety and efficacy.
